The following accounts from merchants were put inorder by Thomas Lane (up to 1823), From 1793 to1803 he left them in annual bundles, often with hisnotes and calculations on a scrap of paper, each ofwhich is treated here as a unit; from 1803 to 1823they were found in one continuous sequence, andthis, too, has been maintained.
