COR/POL/079/2013-001With the help of feedback from our service users, employees <strong>and</strong> community groups, wewill continue to develop arrangements to monitor, review <strong>and</strong> evaluate the effectivenessof our employment <strong>and</strong> service delivery policies.2.2 Scope of the policyThis policy covers all aspects of human <strong>rights</strong>, <strong>equality</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>diversity</strong> in employment <strong>and</strong>service delivery.This policy applies to all <strong>Trust</strong> employees.The policy applies to service users, their families <strong>and</strong> their carers, throughouttheir relationship with the <strong>Trust</strong>.This policy applies to volunteer staff on all sites <strong>and</strong> contractorsThis policy applies to all areas of the <strong>Trust</strong>‟s operations in particular the following:application of all <strong>Trust</strong> Policies <strong>and</strong> procedures, managing performance,managing health issues <strong>and</strong> attitudes <strong>and</strong> practices among all employees.This is not an exhaustive list as the policy applies to anyone that has dealingswith the <strong>Trust</strong>.2.3 General principlesAll new policies, strategies <strong>and</strong> service restructuring will undergo an <strong>equality</strong> analysis toensure that no protected characteristic group is impacted negatively <strong>and</strong> if so, monitoredto ensure adequate mitigation against adverse impact.All staff will receive <strong>equality</strong>, <strong>diversity</strong> <strong>and</strong> human <strong>rights</strong> training through induction,m<strong>and</strong>atory refresher training, face to face <strong>and</strong> e-learning training.Service users, including patients <strong>and</strong> staff will be involved in the development of newpolicies, services <strong>and</strong> the monitoring of progress to achieve actions plans.<strong>Trust</strong> employees will receive equitable treatment in all relevant aspects of theemployment relationship including: Job Descriptions, Recruitment <strong>and</strong> Selection, Terms<strong>and</strong> Conditions, Induction, Maternity <strong>and</strong> Paternity provision, Secondment/Acting Up,Appraisal, Training & Development, Flexible Working, Annual Leave, Special Leave,Promotion, Sickness Absence, Retirement, Discipline, Grievance, Redundancy <strong>and</strong>Pension Provision.Breaches of this policy will be regarded as misconduct <strong>and</strong> could lead to disciplinaryproceedings3 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<strong>Trust</strong><strong>Barts</strong> <strong>Health</strong> has a moral <strong>and</strong> legal responsibility forpromoting human <strong>rights</strong>, <strong>equality</strong>, valuing <strong>diversity</strong><strong>and</strong> tackling discrimination.Ensuring that adequate resources are allocated inorder to achieve the aims of this policy.Ultimate responsibility lies with the <strong>Trust</strong>‟s ChiefExecutive devolved to the Director of <strong>Human</strong>Resources, with the day to day responsibility carried outby the Director of Organisational DevelopmentThe Director of Organisational Development isresponsible for the effective operation of this policy<strong>and</strong> for providing advice <strong>and</strong> assistance on itsPage 6 of 13
