The Museum’s second floor will beequipped with 3D pr<strong>in</strong>ters, model<strong>in</strong>g software, and computer monitors, allow<strong>in</strong>g visitors toexperiment with the technologies explored <strong>in</strong> the show. Designers-<strong>in</strong>-residence work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> thegallery will demonstrate various <strong>digital</strong> techniques and <strong>fabrication</strong> tools used to create objectslike those <strong>in</strong> the <strong>exhibition</strong>, and a range of special workshops—public and educational programsthat provide visitors with hands-on opportunities to deepen their engagement with 3D softwareand hardware— will be held throughout the <strong>exhibition</strong>’s run. Also <strong>in</strong>tegrated <strong>in</strong>to the <strong>in</strong>stallationare video clips that expla<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>dividual artistic practices and the divergent approaches toward<strong>in</strong>corporat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>digital</strong> <strong>fabrication</strong> <strong>in</strong> the creative process. Additionally, a number of the featuredworks <strong>in</strong>clude <strong>in</strong>teractive components.The <strong>exhibition</strong> is conceptually organized around six themes, which provide a framework fornavigat<strong>in</strong>g the diverse range of artwork on view and reflect aesthetic trends and artisticapproaches:• In Model<strong>in</strong>g Nature biological and ecological phenomena serve as a po<strong>in</strong>t of departurefor artistic creativity;• New Geometries explores how mathematical formulae are applied to create <strong>in</strong>tricatethree-dimensional patterns and geometric forms large and small;• Reboot<strong>in</strong>g Revivals reveals how creators use computer-assisted production to referenceor appropriate notable historical art works and decorative styles;• Digital manipulation is also used to reconceptualize human figuration and the body <strong>in</strong>Remix<strong>in</strong>g the Figure;• Works <strong>in</strong> Pattern as Structure <strong>in</strong>corporate movement, sound, light, and other sensoryelements to create immersive art forms that activate the gallery space;• Processuality documents how the act of mak<strong>in</strong>g plays a vital role <strong>in</strong> the creation andpresentation of works that reveal the limitless possibilities of these emerg<strong>in</strong>gtechnologies.“From sculptural fantasy to functional beauty to conceptual idiosyncrasies, the works of art <strong>in</strong>Out of Hand, all created <strong>in</strong> the past decade, demonstrate an explosive, unprecedented scope ofartistic expression,” said Curator Ronald T.
