VILLAGEOFFICELocal Firemen HonouredThree members of the <strong>Burns</strong> <strong>Lake</strong> FireDepartment were honoured in Januarywith long service awards. Thethree were presented with certificatesand medals by Mayor Luke Strimboldto commemorate a collective 80 yearsof service between the three men.Brian Brinkhurst was given an award for 20 years of service,Rob Krause was awarded for 25 years, and JimMcBride, Protective Services Coordinator at the Village of<strong>Burns</strong> <strong>Lake</strong> was honoured with 35 years of Service! TheVillage of <strong>Burns</strong> <strong>Lake</strong> thanks these men for their dedicationto the safety of our community.2Council UpdateThe Village of <strong>Burns</strong> <strong>Lake</strong> Council has had an active winterthus far. On January 29th they approved the budget for<strong>2013</strong>. This allows plans to move ahead and action to betaken for the coming year. Council has also decided tomove forward with a Mutual Aid agreement for fire protectionwith the Village of Fraser <strong>Lake</strong>, which will providefor shared help between communities in the event of amajor disaster. The <strong>2013</strong> visitor information centre agreementhas been signed, providing for the continued use ofthe information centre for visitors to <strong>Burns</strong> <strong>Lake</strong>. Councilhas also approved a new procedure bylaw that outlinesnew procedures for council meetings.
