After 12 yearsin the German Air Force he worked for the German insurance group Allianz AG in corporate financeand M&A with focus on Japan, and as the regional Chief Financial Officer of Allianz Asia Pacific inSingapore.For the last years he was responsible for the creation of the European Investment Fund 's riskmanagement function. Focus of his work was the development of valuation and risk managementmodels and investment strategies for venture capital fund-of-funds.Thomas was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo and is a ShimomuraFellow of the Institute of Capital Formation of the Development Bank of JapanTogether with Pierre-Yves Mathonet he authored the book "Beyond the J Curve: Managing a Portfolioof Venture Capital and Private Equity Funds" by John Wiley & SonsGauthier MonjanelEuropean Investment Fund (Luxembourg)Gauthier holds a Master of Science in Management from the Reims Management School.He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the audit department, focusing on the financialsector. After, he joined the EIF where he was responsible for the financial control of its VC portfolio. Hethen moved to the Risk Management Department.He is currently taking part in the review of each VC operation presented to the EIF Board.
