I prefer to get over one before worrying about thenext.FridayWe often have an informal partners’ meeting on aFriday morning at 10.30am for between 30 minutesand an hour.Normally at lunchtime, I catch up with the GlobalHead of the Appleby Trusts and Private ClientGroup, Tim Faries, who is based in Bermuda. Fromtime to time, I also regularly have a video conferencewith all local heads of the Trusts and Private ClientGroup. These are valuable, enabling us to feel partof an international team and to share news and ideas.This particular Friday I am in Dublin, of behalf ofSTEP, promoting the Isle of Man to local businessprofessionals with IOM Finance. The event is atlunchtime so I am able to catch up with client workduring the morning and before catching a swift flightback to the Isle of Man early evening, volcanic ashpermitting!Paparazzi. Once the children are in bed, Sarah and Ilike to share some quiet time and a glass of wine.On Sunday we are up early and start the day withChurch, followed by a bite of lunch. We spend quitea lot of time at the beach and we are very fond ofspending time at Port St Mary at the weekend.Some friends and I occasionally go out fishing onBob Taylor’s boat “Gemini”. If we are not there,favourite family activities are fishing in one of thelakes and rivers, a cycle ride or a walk along one ofthe promenades on the Island (ideally involving icecream).I tend to work for a couple of hours so that I canrelax for the remainder of the day. In the evening,we like to sit down to a Sunday roast dinner, forwhich Sarah’s parents join us, living as they do justround the corner.After a busy week, my wife and I go out to dinnerthis evening – a rare indulgence without thechildren.Weekend LifeSaturday, as with most families on the Island,involves a lot of ferrying the children to and fromtheir various activities. Charles has swimming andfootball on Saturday morning and Emily has balletlessons on Saturday afternoon. Both have publicspeaking with Pat Corrin at 5.30pm on Saturdayafternoon. No hockey today because the season hasjust finished, so I shall squeeze in a little quiet time inthe office.We love to get out with the children for a meal oncea week and tonight we are off to one of our regulars,JOHN RIMMERLocal Group Head – Private Client and Trusts, Partnerjrimmer@applebyglobal.com
