Happy birthdayLoudoun CountyLoudoun County celebrated250 years of history onSaturday, May 19, with an all-daycommunity celebration in and aroundthe historic courthouse in downtownLeesburg.The official commemorationceremony included local, state andnational officials, including CongressmanFrank Wolf and Gov. Tim Kaine.The U.S. Army Fife and Drum Corpskicked off the ceremony and twoanniversary songs written for theevent, “A Walk Through Loudoun’sHistory” and “Celebrate Loudoun,”were performed for the first time at apublic gathering. There was a varietyof entertainment throughout the day,including livinghistorians,musicians,historical recordsdisplays,children’sgames anddisplays bycounty governmentdepartmentsand localcommunity and historical groups.The event included a presentationof the U.S., Virginia, LoudounCounty and 250th Anniversary flagsby the Loudoun County Sheriff ’sColor Guard.
