Course OverviewThis conference is co-provided by Thomas JeffersonUniversity Hospital and Thomas Jefferson University,Jefferson School of Nursing. The focus of the conferenceis contemporary clinical issues impacting nursingpractice. This conference is targeted to advancedpractice nurses in Clinical Nurse Specialist and NursePractitioner roles.Course Objectives:Describe the impact of healthcare reform onadvanced practice nursing.Recognize the need to engage and involve patient/caregivers in self-care management activities whilein the acute care setting.Identify and use patient self-care managementtools in the inpatient clinical setting.Discuss the development and implementationof clinical pathways and the impact on healthcare practice.Explore methods to enhance conversationswith patients and families at the end of life.Identify best practices and pharmacologicalmanagement for pain, sepsis and anti-platelet/anti-coagulant therapy.Purpose:To provide a forum to discuss healthcare reformchallenges facing advanced practice nursing and nurseled strategies to improve practice and outcomes.Nursing Continuing Education Contact Hours: Amaximum of 6.5 contact hours will be awarded for thisprogram including 2.2 Pharmacology contact hours.Note: Participants may attend entire afternoonsession only for partial contact hours.Nursing Continuing Education:Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is an approvedprovider of Continuing Nursing Education (CNE)by the PA.
