Day in day out, 24 hours a day, everyday of the year, there are special people ineach hometown that watch over ourwelfare and safety. Whether we aresleeping or eating, working or playing, wecan rest assured knowing that the policeand fire departments and the emergencyrescue workers are ready at a moment’tnotice to be there for each one of us.To show appreciation for those whoserve in the communities of the <strong>West</strong><strong>Allegheny</strong> School District, severalmembers of St. Columbkille Church’soutreach committee in Imperial gottogether and planned a gratitude lunch forthe town’semergencyresponders.OnSaturday,September26, fire,police, andambulancepersonnelfrom all ofthe departments highlighted on theprogram, pictured at left, were invited tostop by for a meal, or, if responders wereon duty, they picked up a takeoutluncheon.Members of the church community andthe volunteers that were involved incoordinating the event wrote personalthank you’s in each of the programs sothat each emergency responder couldreceive one. The St. Columbkille CCDclasses also helped by coloring pictures offire trucks and police trucks that wereused as placemats on the tables, whichwere all decked out in red, white, andblue.Additionally, various communitybusinesses that are part of the St.Columbkille church family providedfinancial support -- Thomas-LittleFuneral Service, Wharton-HerrickFuneral Home, Essex Beer Distributor,Debbie Seibel, Janoski’s Farm Market,and Signs by Tomorrow.Members of St. Columbkille made allof the desserts.Putting oneself in harm’s way as part ofhis or her daily duties is something mostpeople don’t take into consideration asthey go through their own days. So, onthis special day, our community rememberedthose individuals for what they dobest -- protect us. Thank You!
