Comment _________ _ April 2009Our exciting news is that the Board, at theirMarch 18 th meeting, gave us the "green" light toproceed with our plan to establish a communitygarden in downtown Danbury. The site is a piece ofproperty, owned by Joe DaSilva, Jr., located onState Street which runs perpendicular to andbetween Main Street and Town Hill Avenue. He isdonating it for our use and also is donatingequipment and manpower to clean it up. Our plan isto have it up and running this Spring. There will be a lot of information, about theimplementation plan and ways in which you can beinvolved, made available during the next few weeks. As written by Ali Zapparo, who isspearheading this project, our mission is to promotecommunity involvement and solidarity throughinvestment in a grass-roots, place-based gardeningsystem that invests in the physical environment inwhich participants live. By coordinatingvolunteerism and sustainable food production andconsumption, participants become stakeholders intheir own community's growth and cohesion, garnerdeeper respect for diversity and teamwork, whiledeveloping a deeper connection to the earth.Chalice CirclesNotice for anyone interested in joining a Spring intoSummer Chalice Circle.
