John Ashbery’s translation of Frenchpoet Arthur Rimbaud’s final masterpiece beforeabandoning poetry at the age of 21, Illuminations(Norton, 2011) has been published. TheSmall Dance is a collaborative translation fromtext to movement. The text in question, “The SmallDance,” by Chris Martin, is a long poem that takesits name from a choreographic technique by dancepioneer Steve Paxton and can be found in BecomingWeather (Coffee House Press 2011). For thisperformance, the translators are Lydia Bell, SarahWhite, Eric Conroe, Lisa Keskitalo, and ColleenHooper.
