BIBLE DISCOVERY: Talk with children about <strong>Christmas</strong> and ask whatit means to them. Some children will mention that it is Jesus’ Birthday,while others will talk about presents, decorations, etc. Ask the followingquestions:• What do they first think of when you mention <strong>Christmas</strong>?• How do they feel about receiving and giving gifts?• What is the best gift you have ever received?Talk about God giving the greatest gift of all–His only Son, Jesus. Duringthis season it is important for us to remember the reason for <strong>Christmas</strong>.God’s gift of His Son to provide us with eternal life. It is the best gift ofall! (If you have chosen a video to watch, be sure to preview it and askquestions that relate the video back to the <strong>Christmas</strong> message.) Be sure toget permission to show the video from the Motion Picture LicensingCorporation 800.462.8855.ACTIVITY:Cookies: Explain that each will make a dozen cookies. Six of these will begiven away next week. <strong>The</strong> other six will get to be eaten <strong>by</strong> the clubmembers. <strong>Have</strong> ingredients ready for the children to mix, shape and bakecookies to save time, (for health reasons have children wash their handsfirst) have adults wrap and freeze the cookies after the club meeting. Foryounger children use pre-made dough.Cards: Each club member is to make a card that will be given away nextweek with the cookies. Provide construction paper, markers, glitter, glue,<strong>Christmas</strong> decorations, etc. to be used to make cards. Old <strong>Christmas</strong> cardscan be cut and used on construction paper. Freeze cookies and store cardsfor the following week.CHRISTMAS CAROLS:If you do plan to sing some carols next week, have the children practicetwo or three songs that will relate well to the <strong>Christmas</strong> Story. Talk aboutwhat the words in the songs mean. If possible, try to find the history of thesongs you will be singing and share the information with the class.CONCLUSION: Older Children: <strong>Have</strong> the students complete the“<strong>Christmas</strong> Gift Word Search” (next page).Younger Children: Give them little gifts to wrap and let them take themhome and open them on <strong>Christmas</strong> Morning.
