wombat’s CITY HOSTELS
Vienna, Munich, Berlin and Budapest (opening 2011):
With the concept of wombat‘s CITY HOSTELS, Sascha Böck & Marcus Praschinger have brought a
certain type of youth tourism to Europe which is already common practice throughout the Anglo-American areas.
Cleanliness and comfort instead of curfews and 10-bed dorms - wombat‘s is not a youth hostel in the traditional
sense. wombat‘s is a backpacker hostel: a unique convergence of hotel and youth hostel at which many facilities
are shared among guests.
The comfy lounge, the womBar and the guest kitchen are shared as are the very popular dormitories enhanced with
shower and toilet. Single, twin and double rooms are nonetheless on offer. An apparent advantage of having shared
facilities is that the costs for the individual are kept to a minimum. More importantly, it creates a friendly, mutual and
communicative atmosphere among the guests. The „hostel“ feeling is difficult to describe - one has to experience
it to fully understand it. The term hostel does not describe a place but rather an attitude, a philosophy, the encounter
of diverse people who all share the wonders, the ups and downs and the experiences of the adventure called „travelling“.
Awards
Receiving awards is a great honour for us. It validates us in our work and our actions. The HOSCARS (HOStelworld Customer Annual
Ratings) Hostel awards take place every year to recognize the best hostels in the world. More than 20,000 properties from across the globe,
all featured on Hostelworld.com, are eligible for the awards. The best hostel winners were voted for by over 900,000 customers worldwide
who booked their accommodation online and rated and reviewed the hostel on six criteria (character, security, location, staff, fun, cleanliness).
We achieved a particularly distinct honour in 2009 with the Hospitality Innovation Award. The co-operation of PKF hotelexperts and
Hotelforum Management GmbH awards this prize for “major achievements in the international hospitality industry”. This
is the first time the award has been presented to a hostel chain.
Daily, we welcome people from all over the world as our guests in our hostels in Vienna, Munich and Berlin.
We and our staff have travelled a lot ourselves and have also come to see parts of the world in which people
live in great poverty. We not only want to speak about social responsibility, we want to act on it. Previously,
we have invested our support selectively in single projects. We have now decided to accompany projects
on a long-term and sustainable basis. We came across „Kindernothilfe“ (help for kids in need)
through talks and internet research. Kids are - as is very well known - the weakest
link in the chain. With our sponsorship, we hope to enable
them a start into a better future.
We welcome your interest and
are delighted to hear from you:
