2012 Guide to <strong>Greater</strong> <strong>Philadelphia</strong> <strong>Gardens</strong>Fill your home and holiday with the fresh green fragrance and beauty of nature!Brandywine River Museum Annual Critter Sale (continued)Critters are ornaments made usingmaterials found in nature, such asteasel, twigs, pinecones, dried flowers,berries and leaves. In 1984, the crittersdecorated the main Christmas tree inthe Reagan White House and theirdining room table. More than 3,000ornaments were crafted for thisproject. The dining room table display--Santa and his reindeer--are now partof the Smithsonian collections.Currently, 130 volunteers work year-round to make nearly 10,000 critters eachyear. Total net sales passed the $1 million mark last year. Proceeds from the salebenefit the Volunteers' Art Purchase Fund, which has added more than 200paintings, drawings and prints to the Museum's holdings since 1975.There will be a book signing during the Critter Sale on Saturday, December 1from 10 a.m. to noon.
