Mary was born November 29, 1945, in Las Vegas at hergrandmother’s home. Her father, concerned she wouldn’t have a birthcertificate, immediately drove her and her mother to the County hospitalin Los Angeles where they issued her one!Mary went to Sunrise Acres, J.D. Smith, Rancho and graduated fromWestern High in 1963 in the first graduating class. She got married atage 17 and was widowed at age 60 in 2006. Her husband was RomieAlderman, a plumber by trade but stock car racer by passion. Mary wasan insurance underwriter for almost 35 years. She has two sons, Linkand Lance and four grandchildren: Kristen, Shane, Lanae and Lance Jr.In 1993, Mary’s husband bought her dream home, which she hadvisited in 1953 with her grandmother. It was built by Mayme Stockerwho received the #1 gambling license in 1931. It’s a rambling white brickhouse with a basement that sits on an acre near 15th and Oakey. Mary isa lifelong saver and there is plenty of room for all her “treasures.” She’slived downtown nearly all her life, and it’s where she’ll stay ‘til the end.Mary JoyAldermanWard 3 Resident
