CEOMessageA Message from the Chief Executive OfficerDear Community Members, Partners, Stakeholders, Business Associates and Friends:It is a pleasure to once again present to you with the annual status of <strong>Brevard</strong> County’s lead childwelfare agency, Community Based Care of <strong>Brevard</strong>. Children represent our hope for the futureand each precious life is the most valuable asset we, as a community, have. Our commitment toprotecting children, strengthening families and changing lives is a daily reminder that all of usare the agents of change on behalf of those we serve.Many children and families are in need of hope; hope of a brighter future and a bettertomorrow; hope of a “forever home” for children who are available for adoption; hopefor families of a meaningful connection to our community through employment,education and financial security; and hope that one day child abuse will no longerexist in <strong>Brevard</strong>. In keeping with the Together in <strong>Partnership</strong>’s System of Care -Principles of Practice, it is our goal and mission to ensure that <strong>CBC</strong> of <strong>Brevard</strong>provides that hopeYouth and families are seeking and finding support through the <strong>Brevard</strong> C.A.R.E.S.Prevention program with self-referrals continuing to increase. We, along with ourpartner agencies, have strived to make a difference in the lives of those entrusted to ourcare, resulting in an improved quality of life for many children and families. Over thepast year <strong>Brevard</strong> C.A.R.E.S. has provided support services for over 2,000 children.Through the concerted efforts of our anti-stigma campaign, capacity building,flexible supports and the implementation of the <strong>Family</strong> Team Conference (FTC), families inneed are approaching <strong>CBC</strong> of <strong>Brevard</strong> for assistance before their circumstances reach thethreshold of abuse or neglect. And, because of the dedicated provider network in <strong>Brevard</strong>County, services are being tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and family.I would be remiss if I did not recognize the wonderful work of Children’s Home Society andDevereux Florida in the Care Management function. As a result of their diligence, <strong>CBC</strong> of<strong>Brevard</strong> has had among the lowest caseworker turnover rate in the nation; less than 4% last year. Iwould also like to recognize the commitment made by our partners, foster parents, communityvolunteers, donors, sponsors, <strong>CBC</strong> of <strong>Brevard</strong> staff, Board members, local officials, faith-basedagencies, and the local court staff. You are second to none!I want to thank you for your support, involvement, commitment and contributions toprotecting <strong>Brevard</strong>’s children, strengthening <strong>Brevard</strong>’s families and changing the lives of<strong>Brevard</strong>’s children. Together in<strong>Partnership</strong>Together in <strong>Partnership</strong><strong>CBC</strong> of <strong>Brevard</strong>’s System of Care was developed by the community forthe community. In order to answer the call and develop a bestpractice system of care to address local concerns and local needs, the<strong>Brevard</strong> County Government established the Together in <strong>Partnership</strong> (TIP)committee.
