Many of our students will bestarting a new internship, a new job or a new journey and we wish them a job welldone!NHCUC JOB FAIRIn recent weeks, the CDC has hosted several events to help our students preparefor life after college. As an affiliate of NHCUC, staff from the office attended theNHCUC Job Fair held on April 4 th at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester, NH. Over 60employers attended this high-energy event http://www.nhcuc.org/pdfs/employ_dir.pdf. It was great to see so many SNHU students and alumni networkingwith prospective employers.BUSINESS ETIQUETTE DINNERThis year’s Business Etiquette Dinner tookplace on April 5 th in the Hospitality Center.Our very own Andrea Bard, communicationsfaculty and etiquette specialist, presented afascinating, fun and informative program.Alumni Ann Lally, President of SalemCooperative Bank ’79 and ’95; MichaelWarenda, Project Manager at TriadAssociates ’02; and Meghan Delesandro, VP of Publishing for Alloy Media &Marketing ’00 picked up a few tips as they networked with students.WORKING IN THE USATo provide valuable and informative opportunities for our Internationalcommunity, the CDC and ISS hosted the “Working in the USA-OPT and BeyondWorkshop” on April 5 th . Career Development Center’s “Career Corner” pt.2Submitted by: Christiana Amesquita, Outreach Coordinator, Career Development CenterWORKING IN THE USA (cont.)On April 18 th , ISS, ISA and the CDC hosted the annual International Alumni Panel.SNHU alumni panelists Estaban Lopez of Ecuador ’01 and ’05; Zelma X. Echeverriaof Ecuador ’01; Mary Wambui of Kenya ‘05; and Jing Li of China ’05 sharedinspirational stories about their careers and accomplishments. The evening servedas a great opportunity for students to ask questions and for the panelists to sharevaluable advice and tips on finding employment in the USA.JOB AND INTERNSHIP POSTINGSThe CDC has been developing new ways to expand our services and outreach,including social media strategies and a job/internship posting campaign. As newpositions come in every day, we highlight a few that we consider excellentopportunities for student and alumni. We then share these positions with thecommunity on our Facebook (/SNHUCareerDevelopment) and Twitter(@SNHUCareerCtr) pages with the hash tag #Spotlight. Throughout the summer wewill develop the means to take this initiative one step further. We are creating anemail system where opportunities will be sent weekly to the inboxes of our facultyand staff to share with students. We encourage you to keep an eye out for emailsas we continue to develop this initiative.FAREWELL TO CHANCESadly, our last announcement is saying farewell to one of our own. AssociateDirector, Chance Clutter, is leaving SNHU at the end of May to take on a newposition in his home state as a career counselor at the University of Kansas. “It is avery bittersweet moment for me,”said Chance. “After 5+ years atSNHU, I’ve had the pleasure ofworking with a lot of great students,faculty, and staff and that iswhat I will miss most of all.” Pleasejoin us in wishing Chance the bestof luck in his new adventure! This isa time when Honorsstudents present theresearch that they havebeen working on. Dr.Andrew Martino, thedirector of SNHU’s four yearHonors program,encourages his seniors tosubmit to the North EastRegional HonorsConference. The UniversityHonors Program at SNHU iscommitted to increasingour presence at theregional Honorsconference. Last year wehad two students presenttheir work, and this year wehad three: Nicole Escobar,Danielle Dalton, and NicoleFaille! Both years saw ourstudents stand out from therest in scholarly contentand overall professionalism.Each of them presentedtheir 401 projects at theconference in Baltimore,Maryland. We would like tocongratulate the seniorsnot only for theirpresentations at theconference, but for theircontributions to the HonorsProgram.
