His virtuosity on the instrument provides Arrebato Ensemble with the excitementand depth that has become prevalent in modern flamenco bass playing with theadvent of jazz-trained players such as Carles Benavent.Lloyd G, born in Burma and migrating to Australia in 1971, is currently one of themost sought after drummers and percussionists in the Sydney rock, rhythm andblues circuits. In a career spanning twenty five years, he has worked with LionelRitchie, Darren Hayes (Savage Garden), The Counting Crows and JimmyBarnes, to name but a few. The adaptation of his powerful ‘feel’ to flamenco createsa dynamic rhythmic foundation to Arrebato Ensemble. He was drawn to flamencoby the attraction of its complex, rhythmic structures and the prevalence of diversepercussion instruments in its contemporary phase.Andrew Poniris has been a working musician for over two decades, playing electricguitar, bass and saxophone in various rock and jazz settings. He was a foundingmember of Johnny Demon and the Devils. In 1997, he began collaborating with GregAlfonzetti on flamenco music after discovering the passion and virtuosity of the greatJorge Pardo and Carles Benavent. Since then, he has worked on various projectswith Greg, including the theatre productions with Antonio Vargas such as HousePlus which was performed at Sydney’s Seymour Centre. To Arrebato Ensemble hebrings the powerful style of his saxophones and chromatic harmonica.Ana Interiano was born in El Salvador in 1993 to a family of dancers. Sheimmigrated to Australia at three months of age with her mother - a ballet teacher -and sister to escape civil war. Her mother, Sobeida Interiano continued to teachballet in Sydney at the Los Carmonas Flamenco Academy, and it was there thatAna commenced flamenco dance studies under the guidance of Adriana Rodriguez.An artful, mature performer with great technical strength, Ana has earned high praiseat several McDonald's Performing Arts Challenges, winning gold as a soloist in2005. Ana recently captivated audiences in Jorge Bagnini's 'Albeniz, Circle of Fire'at the National Multicultural Festival 2007. Over the past two years Ana has beena guest artist with the Arrebato Ensemble.Ana is emerging as an important figure for the next generation of flamenco dancersin Australia. She hopes to undertake studies in Spain with the aim of becoming aproactive force in the development of professional flamenco in Australia.
