Over 3000 visits have been made to the site in the last 12 monthsand it now contains over 300 photographs. Recent additions to the siteinclude:· The IB2 Graduation Ceremony· <strong>Moshi</strong>'s 1<strong>99</strong>9 Class Photos· The IGCSE artwork of the S5 students· The S5 Leaving Ceremony· The Wind in the Willows - primary drama· Some aerial photographs of <strong>Moshi</strong> Campus· Photograph ordering facility· Full site mapAlso, for the first time this month, the IB2 students were able to obtaintheir IB results from the school's website on the day they were publishedby the IB.We are still seeking more photos for the alumni section of the web site.If you have any (respectable!?) digital photos that could adorn the site(with some explanatory text) please send them to keironw@ismoshi.org.NEWS OF FORMER STAFF AND STUDENTS=================================Since our last Habari Za Shule newsletter of April we have had quite a goodresponse from a number of ex-ISMers. We are including here the latest newswe have been able to gather.Suraj Rai (IB2'93) is working with Merrill Lynch's mortgage tradingsystems in downtown Manhattan.Jiten Popat (IB2'93) graduated this May at Steven's Institute ofTechnology, and will be working for Delloite and Touche consulting company.Manipal Dhariwal (IB2'93) is working in Rochester.Wu Qi (IB2'95) will start working for Anderson consultants this summer.Samir Vaidya (IB2'92) lives in Chicago where he is working at Motorola, andis involved in software development for base radio controllers. Hisbrother, Sachin (IB2'95) is also working in Chicago.Subabra Prakash(IB2'94) is finishing her MBA in Banglore and her brotherSriram (S4'94) is studying engineering also in Banglore.Haikaeli Andrew-Mziray (IB2'86) qualified as a doctor and now lives inChicago. Her twin sister Asnathy trained as an engineer and now works inDar es Salaam. Ngana Andrew (IB2'89) also lives in Chicago.Nisha Patel (IB2'95)is majoring in Biology (isn't that great!) at theUniversity of Southern California at Los Angeles and plans to go on tostudy Dentistry.Marjolijn Pronk (S4'94) has been studying Facility management in Hollandand was in the process of completing her thesis when we heard from her inMay. By now she is probably on her way to Australia where she plans totravel for six months. She would very much like to keep in touch with ex-ISMers. Her e-mail address is marjolijn.pronk@wxs.nl.Shilan Shah (IB2'91) has just completed her first year of PhD in Law atWarwick University after achieving LLB and LLM at the same university. Sheis also teaching 1st year Law.We were delighted to receive an e-mail from one of the earliest ISM boardmembers, Dr. Allan Gottneid. He was the Chairman of the Board of Directorswhen ISM decided to take up IB. Through the school's home page he is nowable to follow the developments at ISM.1


Habari<strong>99</strong>7.txt 20/07/20001<strong>99</strong>9 GRADUATION CEREMONY========================The last IB Graduation Ceremony of this decade, century and millenium tookplace on the 22nd of May. The class of '<strong>99</strong>, was quite a special group: itconsisted of 22 students representing eleven nationalities. Some had beenat ISM since P1 while others had joined at various stages up to IB1. Thisclass also had the first batch of students from Arusha branch to comethrough to secondary school in <strong>Moshi</strong>. This year the Chibber award [which isgiven annually to a student who best reflects the values for which weremember Mr Chibber: loyalty to the <strong>School</strong>, promotion of the <strong>School</strong>'s bestinterests, and above all, demonstration of an active concern for othersboth within and outside the <strong>School</strong>] went to Meghna Sandhu who joined ISM inP2 in Arusha branch. The guest speaker at this ceremony was Mrs Meghji,Tanzania's Minister of Land and Tourism who gave a speech concerningdevelopments in Tanzania and where priorities should lie in the future. Theceremony ended with the graduating class singing a song composed by MrsEgan, the IB English teacher and put to music by Mr Jones, the school musicteacher. After the ceremony there followed a grand Tea-Party in the dininghall. As far as the school was concerned, that was the end of IB2'<strong>99</strong>. Whatfollowed after that was the concern of the parents as usual! As for theirfuture, we shall have more to tell you in September.The S5 class, not to be outdone, had their leaving ceremony on June 11th.However,this was a short ceremony as most of them will be back next year todo their IB and practise for the proper thing in May 2001!LEAVING TEACHERS================This year several teachers who have been at ISM for many years are leaving.Laura Egan who has been teaching English at ISM since 1982 will be joiningher husband in Gibraltar and hopes to teach English in an internationalschool in southern Spain.Carolyn Shaffer who has been teaching French at ISM since 1<strong>99</strong>0 is goingback to the United States where she will be teaching French in a school inFlorida.Bob and Sheila Messer have been at ISM since 1<strong>99</strong>1, Bob as an IB coordinatorand History teacher and Sheila as Head of Mathematics Department. Bob istaking up appointment as Deputy Principal of the <strong>International</strong> <strong>School</strong> ofRotterdam while Sheila will be teaching at the American <strong>School</strong> of TheHague.Phil and Cecilia Hudson have been at ISM for four years, Phil as Head ofPrimary and Cecilia as one of the founder teachers of the KindergartenClass. Phil will be taking up a new post as Head of the Junior Section ofAcademia Britanica Cuscatleca in El Salvador.Tom Reppert who has been teaching a number of subjects at ISM for the lasttwo years is moving to Bandung <strong>International</strong> <strong>School</strong> in Indonesia.Jennifer Elliott is returning to Canada after two years at ISM as IBBoarding Parent and Science teacher.You will hear about their replacements in September.Asanteni,Elly NkyaNote: The report of the 1<strong>99</strong>8 Oslo Reunion and the April 1<strong>99</strong>9 edition ofHabari za Shule are still available for download from the school's website.Also the Garton's invitation for 14th August is still open - check out theAlumni section of the website.2
