It would be c<strong>on</strong>sidereda legitimate commercial transacti<strong>on</strong> as a normal part of marketing activity but members should c<strong>on</strong>sider<strong>the</strong> appropriateness of <strong>the</strong> locati<strong>on</strong> and <strong>the</strong> general circumstances of <strong>the</strong> event from <strong>the</strong> perspective ofmaintaining <strong>the</strong> reputati<strong>on</strong> of industry.Q42 Under <strong>the</strong> guidelines, may a member make a charitable d<strong>on</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> such as <strong>the</strong> purchase ofa table of dinner invitati<strong>on</strong>s at a fundraising dinner? The member may use some or all of its ticketallotment for its own employees and return any unused porti<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> sp<strong>on</strong>soring organisati<strong>on</strong> for use as<strong>the</strong> sp<strong>on</strong>soring organisati<strong>on</strong> sees fit. Fur<strong>the</strong>rmore, <strong>the</strong> member is not permitted to suggest to <strong>the</strong>sp<strong>on</strong>soring organisati<strong>on</strong>, <strong>the</strong> names of <strong>Healthcare</strong> Professi<strong>on</strong>als who could be invited to attend <strong>the</strong> event,irrespective of whe<strong>the</strong>r or not <strong>the</strong> specified <strong>Healthcare</strong> Professi<strong>on</strong>als will be seated at <strong>the</strong> member‟s table.Q43 Is it permissible for a member to make a d<strong>on</strong>ati<strong>on</strong> to a <strong>Healthcare</strong> Professi<strong>on</strong>al‟sdesignated charity in instances where <strong>the</strong> <strong>Healthcare</strong> Professi<strong>on</strong>al has requested <strong>the</strong> member todo so in lieu of receiving a professi<strong>on</strong>al fee for <strong>the</strong> provisi<strong>on</strong> of c<strong>on</strong>sultancy or speaking servicesto <strong>the</strong> member?
