He has also been employed by Adelaideto Outback GP Training Program since 2003 in severalroles <strong>and</strong> is currently <strong>Rural</strong> Medical Education Coordinator<strong>and</strong> ACRRM Medical Advisor to the RTP. He is interested inevolving models <strong>of</strong> primary care <strong>and</strong> innovative delivery <strong>of</strong>training <strong>and</strong> support to rural <strong>and</strong> remote clinicians.Dr Lachlan McIver (appointed 14 August 2009)MBBSDr Lachlan McIver was appointed ACRRM Registrar Director inAugust 2009 <strong>and</strong> is Chair <strong>of</strong> the ACRRM Registrar Committee -a diverse team <strong>of</strong> exciting <strong>and</strong> multi-skilled procedural clinicianscurrently working towards gaining their FACRRM specialistqualifications. He completed his medical degree at MonashUniversity in Melbourne in 2005 <strong>and</strong> since then has worked inPerth, the Kimberley region <strong>of</strong> north-west WA, Central Australia<strong>and</strong> Cape York. He has servedfor six years on the ACRRM Board, first as the Victorian Director,then Vice President, then President. He has practised as a ruraldoctor in Lakes Entrance, Victoria since 1983 <strong>and</strong> is a foundationmember <strong>and</strong> Fellow <strong>of</strong> ACRRM. He is currently Director <strong>of</strong> theEast Gippsl<strong>and</strong> Regional Clinical School <strong>and</strong> Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor,<strong>Rural</strong> Community-Based Medical Education, with MonashUniversity. He is a member <strong>of</strong> the Committee <strong>of</strong> Management <strong>of</strong><strong>Rural</strong> Doctors’ Assocation <strong>of</strong> Victoria. Lucie iscurrently Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor in <strong>Rural</strong> Medical Education atFlinders University <strong>and</strong> also works as a GP Obstetrician at MountGambier Hospital. Lucie’s key areas <strong>of</strong> interest are communitybased medical education, rural health, social determinants <strong>of</strong>health <strong>and</strong> women’s health with her key expertise being in ruralmedical education development, curriculum design <strong>and</strong> coursedelivery in undergraduate <strong>and</strong> post graduate areas.Dr Thomas Doolan (appointed 8 December 2009)MBBS, FRACGP, FACRRMDr Thomas Doolan was appointed Queensl<strong>and</strong> Director <strong>of</strong> theACRRM Board in December 2009. He is the State GovernmentMedical Officer based in Kilcoy (Queensl<strong>and</strong>), <strong>and</strong> has beencontinuously involved in the region as a medical practitionersince 1979. He is a Director, Board <strong>of</strong> General Practice Education<strong>and</strong> Training, <strong>and</strong> has been the <strong>College</strong> Honorary Director <strong>of</strong>Education since 1997. He has extensive experience in medicaleducation <strong>and</strong> training with the University <strong>of</strong> Queensl<strong>and</strong><strong>and</strong> RACGP <strong>and</strong> has been a Foundation Director <strong>and</strong> grantapplicant for the Aboriginal <strong>and</strong> Isl<strong>and</strong>er Community HealthService (1972-75), Southern <strong>Rural</strong> Queensl<strong>and</strong> Division <strong>of</strong>General Practice (1992-93), <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Rural</strong> Training PracticeComputerisation Project (1993-96). He has been activelyinvolved in numerous other committees including WONCA <strong>Rural</strong>Practice Working Committee, RDAA, <strong>and</strong> the taskforce for theestablishment for ACRRM.Dr Peter Arvier (appointed 13 April 2010)B.Sc., MBBS, FACRRMDr Peter Arvier was appointed to the position <strong>of</strong> TasmanianDirector in April 2010. He has extensive experience in medicaleducation <strong>and</strong> training with James Cook University <strong>and</strong> theUniversity <strong>of</strong> Tasmania as well as at other teaching facilities.During his medical career, he worked mainly in rural <strong>and</strong> regionalhospitals across Australia before settling in Tasmania in 1990 topursue a career in emergency medicine. In 2005, he moved toCanada with his family to work <strong>and</strong> pursue clinical <strong>and</strong> researchinterests in rural emergency medicine <strong>and</strong> complete a researchMasters degree through the UDRH. On returning to Australia,he took up a position with the <strong>Rural</strong> Clinical School as well ascontinuing to work part time in the emergency departments<strong>of</strong> the North West Regional <strong>and</strong> Mersey Hospitals.Ms Marita CowieBA (Psych), BBus (Com), MEd (T&D)Marita Cowie was appointed Company Secretary <strong>of</strong> the<strong>College</strong> in 1998. She is also the foundation Chief ExecutiveOfficer <strong>of</strong> ACRRM.
