Comparisons of numbers of asbestos bodies:(1) Among 1950’s, 1970’s and 1990’s,(2) Between primary and metastatic lung cancers in 1970’s males.P

Conclusions• The concentration of 1970’s was significantly higherthan those of 1950’s and 90’s.• There were many lung cancer patients with so highlevels of asbestos deposition as seen in definite orsuspected occupational exposure.• Asbestos exposure is not deemed to be a main causeof the lung cancer increase from 1950s to 1990s.• But, in 1970s, primary lung cancer patients (male)had significantly higher asbestos deposition thanmetastatic patients.• Although the recent increase in lung cancer is notascribed to asbestos exposure, the results showedthat it played a certain role for development of malelung cancer in 1970s, which was the period both ofhigh growth of Japanese economy and of the highestconsumption of asbestos.QuickTimeý DzTIFFÅiàèkǻǵÅj êLí£ÉvÉçÉOÉâÉÄÇDZÇÃÉsÉNÉ`ÉÉǾå©ÇÈǞǽDžÇÕïKóvÇ-ÇÅBBack to AbstractGANN-KENNext ⇒The JFCR Cancer Institute
