FIRST YEAR LEARNING COMMUNITIESA First-Year Learning Community(FLC) is a smallgroup of students who cometogether to create a communityof learners. Thereare 24-30 students in eachlearning community whotake two or three coursesin common, belong to thesame college or program,and meet regularly fromSeptember to April. Meetingsare facilitated by an upper-year student peer mentorunder the guidance of astaff and faculty advisor.Why join an FLC and whois eligible?First-Year Learning Communities(FLCs, pronounces“flicks”) make it easier tofind your way around, makefriends, form student groups,develop skills, and succeedacademically.
