76EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICESEMERGENCY SERVICES: EMT-Basic and ParamedicEmergency Medical Technician/EMT-Basic (11 Credit Hours)Advanced Technical DiplomaThis eleven (11) hour college credit program was developed to provide first-phase training in the careerstructure of the emergency medical technician. In order to be employed with an ambulance service in theState of <strong>Florida</strong>, a student must be trained and certified through the EMS section of the Department ofHealth and Rehabilitative Services. Successful completion of this course will enable the student to applyto take the State Registry Examination for EMT.Enrollment RequirementsOnly students who have completed the total application process will be considered for enrollment in theEMT program. Applicants are notified of placement in the program when all admission criteria have beenmet.A completed application includes:1. Completion of NFCC application and payment of the $20 non-refundable application fee.2. Completed CPR course for BLS Health Care Providers. A copy of current card should beattached to application.3. Completed medical clearance forms.4. Immunization Records.5. Documentation of high school graduation (transcript) or copy of GED. Exceptions to this rulewill be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.6. Documentation of birth date (driver’s license or birth certificate).7. Completion of background check and drug screen.8. PRIOR TO ADMISSION, scores of 10.0 are required in Language, Reading, and Total Mathsubtests of the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE). A $10 fee is required to be paid atthe Business Office on the day of testing. Call the NFCC Testing Center (850) 973-9451 torequest a testing date.9.
