Thescholarship is granted to a rising senior whohas demonstrated outstanding academicachievement and citizenship.Ballard ScholarshipThis scholarship was established in 1993by Mr. and Mrs. J. Vernon Ballard inmemory of their son, John AnthonyBallard ’70. The scholarship is grantedeach year to incoming O’Connell freshmenwho have demonstrated both exceptionalacademic achievement and outstandingleadership ability at the middle school.Henry Heishman ScholarshipThe Henry Heishman was established inmemory of beloved O’Connell parent HenryHeishman. The scholarship honors a risingsenior who demonstrates leadership skillsthrough a willingness to contribute to theschool. It honors a student who is humble,hard working, respectful, active inextracurricular activities and who has plans ora desire to attend a four-year college.Col. Frank MullerLeadership AwardThis scholarship was established by theMuller family in honor of their father, COLFrank Muller, beloved former math teacher.This partial scholarship is awarded to astudent who has demonstrated high moralcharacter, personal discipline, academiceffort and leadership by example.Murphy ScholarshipThis scholarship was established in 1999by Mr. Robert Murphy ’67 on behalf of hisfamily (eight brothers and sisters areO’Connell graduates) in memory of theirmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Murphy, belovedformer math teacher. The partialscholarship is presented to a rising juniorwho has demonstrated academic excellencein mathematics.Harry M. “Jake” JacobsScholarshipThis scholarship fund was established in2003 to recognize and pay tribute to Harry“Jake” Jacobs, beloved former O’Connellbaseball coach.Drs.
