Environmental Codes of Practice 1- Transportation Of Insecticides For IRS Activities Ensure that the driver of the vehicle holds a valid Driving License 1 .The vehicle should not be loaded over the freeboard.5.2.3 INSTRUCTION FOR DRIVERSThe Storekeeper/Officer in-charge of loading should ensure that the driver of the vehicle isintimated about:Insecticides being transported,The contact numbers of officials (e.g. District Malaria Officer/Storekeeper/Officerin-chargeof transportation) to be contacted during an emergency, andThe precautions to be undertaken during emergencies5.2.4 INSECTICIDES LOADING AND UNLOADINGIn addition to the provisions mentioned in Section 0, the Storekeeper/Officer-in-charge ofloading/unloading should adhere to the following:Ensure that leaking bagsand containers are notloaded for transportation. Provide PersonalProtective Equipment(PPEs) 2 to the crew forloading and unloading.Used protective gearshould be washed, driedand returned to thestorekeeper. Insecticide bags/containers must not beloaded over the board ofthe truck and the cargomust be covered (bytarpaulin sheet) andsecurely fixed.Hooks should not beused for loading andunloading the gunny bags/polyethylene bags.FIGURE 2.
