Environmental Codes <strong>of</strong> Practice 1- <strong>Transport</strong>ation Of <strong>Insecticides</strong> For <strong>IRS</strong> <strong>Activities</strong> Ensure that the driver <strong>of</strong> the vehicle holds a valid Driving License 1 .The vehicle should not be loaded over the freeboard.5.2.3 INSTRUCTION FOR DRIVERSThe Storekeeper/Officer in-charge <strong>of</strong> loading should ensure that the driver <strong>of</strong> the vehicle isintimated about:<strong>Insecticides</strong> being transported,The contact numbers <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficials (e.g. District Malaria Officer/Storekeeper/Officerin-charge<strong>of</strong> transportation) to be contacted during an emergency, andThe precautions to be undertaken during emergencies5.2.4 INSECTICIDES LOADING AND UNLOADINGIn addition to the provisions mentioned in Section 0, the Storekeeper/Officer-in-charge <strong>of</strong>loading/unloading should adhere to the following:Ensure that leaking bagsand containers are notloaded <strong>for</strong> transportation. Provide PersonalProtective Equipment(PPEs) 2 to the crew <strong>for</strong>loading and unloading.Used protective gearshould be washed, driedand returned to thestorekeeper. Insecticide bags/containers must not beloaded over the board <strong>of</strong>the truck and the cargomust be covered (bytarpaulin sheet) andsecurely fixed.Hooks should not beused <strong>for</strong> loading andunloading the gunny bags/polyethylene bags.FIGURE 2.
