Data Analysis Ethnographic data analysis is a search forpatterns in the behaviour and thoughts ofthe participants (Fetterman, 1989) as thesepatterns make up the culture. Data analysed using Spradley’s (1979)Developmental Research Sequence
Preliminary Findings To date the research has produced over athousand ethnographic folk terms whichhave cultural meaning for most students. The study has also highlighted how studentshave stories about ‘being tagged onto theend’ by lecturers who ‘often appear to bebored’. Or as one student said ‘being knownas a girl called student’
