It combines printed materials, Web-basedtests and resources, and optional live instruction to teach the entire global CIA body <strong>of</strong>knowledge.<strong>2011</strong> Archie Thomas Scholarship Essay Competition<strong>The</strong> IIA Toronto Chapter invites students enrolled in universities across the GTA and SouthWestern Ontario to apply for the <strong>2011</strong> Archie Thomas Scholarship. This $4,000 scholarship isawarded in two parts; first place $2,500 and second place $1,500 to two students each year.Funding Criteria<strong>The</strong> scholarship will be based on a review <strong>of</strong> an essay <strong>of</strong> a minimum length <strong>of</strong> 1,200 words and amaximum length <strong>of</strong> 2,000 words. <strong>The</strong> subject <strong>of</strong> the essay should be “Shaping the Future <strong>of</strong>the <strong>Internal</strong> <strong>Audit</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>ession”, which is the theme <strong>of</strong> the <strong>2011</strong> IIA Canadian NationalConference.<strong>The</strong> prime criteria for selection is the originality and thoroughness <strong>of</strong> the ideas presented in theessay. In addition, the organization and quality <strong>of</strong> writing will be taken into account to evaluateeach submission. Should no suitable application be received, no award will be made.Application GuidelinesApplicants should submit to the Toronto IIA Chapter by March 15 th , <strong>2011</strong>, two PDF files, anessay file without any details that can identify the author, except for the title <strong>of</strong> the essay, and afile with the essays title and the author’s contact information indicating the university, programand year attending in <strong>2011</strong>. Applications should be directed to Miguel Minutti, AcademicCommittee Chair, in care <strong>of</strong> the Chapter Administrator at: administrator@iia-toronto.org.<strong>The</strong> Selection Committee will make the selection in the first weeks <strong>of</strong> April.
