materialsBarlow Tyrie uses first grade plantationgrown teakwood (Tectona Grandis),obtained from the most reputable, legalsource in Indonesia.With time, teak acquires a silver greypatina that complements any outdoorsetting.The high oil content of the teakwood usedin our furniture enables it to withstandthe harshest weather conditions with aminimum of maintenance. Teak is verystable and resistant to rot, which has madeit the first choice for marine and outdooruse over the centuries.We use two grades of stainless steel;316 Grade, commonly known as ‘marinegrade’ and 304 Grade, more commonlyused for garden furniture.Both 316 and 304 are hardwearing andsuitable for use in inland locations whilst316 is for use in coastal areas, marine andheavily chlorinated environments, whereoxidation could be a problem.You should note that all outdoor furniture,including stainless steel, requires somemaintenance.If you have any questions or concernsabout the grade that is best for your area,then please contact your supplier or ourcustomer service department.For our aluminium furniture, we use‘Virgin Aluminium,’ which means it is notreclaimed and is stronger and longerlasting as a consequence.We chemically clean the aluminium andthen powder-coat it to prevent oxidationand to ensure it gives long service with theminimum of maintenance.-4 -
