you deserve some creditTransfer of Credits to <strong>Southeast</strong> Tech<strong>Southeast</strong> Tech will accept credits from any postsecondary institution accredited by one of themajor regional accrediting associations, e.g.,The Higher Learning Commission, North CentralAssociation.Acceptance of transfer credits is contingent uponthe student having completed the course orcourses with a grade of “C” or better, and that inthe judgment of the registrar, the course credit andcontent is similar to that contained in the <strong>Southeast</strong>course for which advanced standing by transfer isbeing requested. Granting of such credit is entirelyat the discretion of the registrar and departmentfaculty members.Prospective applicants wishing advanced standingby transfer credit should request an evaluation oftheir official transcript(s) of courses taken at theirprevious school(s). This request should be made atthe time of application for admission. The studentwill be notified of credits granted. Transferred creditsare not used in determining grade point average orcredit loads for financial aid. The maximum numberof credits granted for any course cannot exceedthe <strong>Southeast</strong> credit standard for a similar course.Credit may be allowed toward an Associate inApplied Science Degree or Vocational Diploma.In some cases, credit may be granted formilitary service school courses. Students mustsubmit documents containing specific creditrecommendations from their service school trainingat the time of admission.Credit By ExaminationA person maybe eligible toreceive credit byexamination for<strong>Southeast</strong> Techcourses. Theseexaminationsmay be oral,written, or a combination of both. In addition tothe exam, a skill demonstration may be required.Persons who wish to obtain credit through a formal<strong>Southeast</strong> exam may obtain information from a10Student Success Center advisor. These credits arenot used in determining grade point average orcredit loads for financial aid.College Level Examination ProgramCredit will be granted for passing the College LevelExamination Program (CLEP) exams, either theGeneral Exams or the Subject Exams. Credits maybe used for appropriate required courses or electivecredits in either Associate in Applied ScienceDegree or Vocational Diploma programs. Gradesare not recorded when an exam is passed, and donot count toward financial aid credit loads.A person who wishes to obtain credit through CLEPexams should discuss the situation with a <strong>Southeast</strong>Student Success Center advisor.Transfer of Credits Between ProgramsCourses are transferable from one program toanother with Associate Degree courses generallytransferable to other Associate Degree programs orto Vocational Diploma programs, and VocationalDiploma courses transferable to other VocationalDiploma programs. Students considering such a credittransfer should consult a Student Success advisor todetermine which credits will or will not transfer.Add/Drop Course First WeekOccasionally, students wish to change classes ordiscontinue a course. Students are able to addand drop classes via the STInet. Students addinga course after the first week of school must obtainpermission from the new instructor and fill out theform above. Students dropping a course afterthe add/drop period receive no refund for thedropped course. (See Terminating Enrollment forrefunds associated with termination of enrollment.)Students who discontinue a course without followingofficial procedures may receive a grade of “F.” Nowithdrawal will be permitted during the last fourweeks of the semester (two weeks in summer).High School Articulation Agreements<strong>Southeast</strong> Tech has articulation agreements withseveral high schools. Articulation agreementsmake it possible for students to receive credit for<strong>Southeast</strong> Tech courses, if they have successfullycompleted certain high school course work. Credit
