In keep<strong>in</strong>gwith <strong>the</strong> sports <strong>the</strong>me, everyonewas asked to come <strong>in</strong> casualdress, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> attire <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>irfavorite pr<strong>of</strong>essional sports teamor USP squad. Amid <strong>the</strong> perfectspr<strong>in</strong>g wea<strong>the</strong>r, <strong>the</strong> attendeeshad a chance to rek<strong>in</strong>dle oldfriendships <strong>and</strong> meet newacqua<strong>in</strong>tances.The day began with a campustour, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g visits to <strong>the</strong> Marv<strong>in</strong>Samson Center for <strong>the</strong> History <strong>of</strong>Pharmacy, <strong>the</strong> Center for AdvancedPharmacy Studies Laboratory <strong>and</strong>a view <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Athletic/Recreationcenter. The awards program followedas <strong>the</strong> recipients <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>Annual Alumni Association Awardswere announced (pictured below).Dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Gr<strong>and</strong> Reception,<strong>the</strong> Class <strong>of</strong> ’53 members ceremoniouslymarched down a pathto <strong>the</strong> tent <strong>and</strong> were recognizedas “Golden Graduates,” signify<strong>in</strong>g<strong>the</strong>ir 50 years <strong>of</strong> service to<strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>. They werebestowed with trophies <strong>and</strong>certificates <strong>of</strong> honor. The Class <strong>of</strong>’78 members were also recognizedfor <strong>the</strong>ir 25 years <strong>of</strong> serviceto USP.Later <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> even<strong>in</strong>g, two specialpresentations—<strong>the</strong> Samuel P.We<strong>the</strong>rill Prize, given annually to<strong>the</strong> reunion class with <strong>the</strong> highest<strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> number <strong>of</strong> participantsto <strong>the</strong> Annual Fund, <strong>and</strong><strong>the</strong> Charles Marshall Prize, givento reunion class with <strong>the</strong> highest<strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> contributions to <strong>the</strong>Annual Fund—were announcedby Dr. Philip Gerb<strong>in</strong>o. The SamuelP.
