<strong>Africa</strong><strong>Adapt</strong> 2 nd Meet and Greet Event for Members inEthiopiaNarrative Report01 December 2012, Harmony HotelAddis Ababa EthiopiaThese days Addis is experiencing huge traffic at every corner. However, on December1 st 2012 it was not difficult for the committed Afri<strong>Adapt</strong> Ethiopian members to arriveon time at Harmony Hotel. It was a special event where by all members of the<strong>Africa</strong><strong>Adapt</strong> members in Ethiopia meet and greet. They got the opportunity to sharetheir different experiences and knowledge among themselves. They have also got theopportunity to know each other, exchanged address. As a result the organizersbelieved that the half day face to face meeting has build friendship among membersin attendance.The Ethiopian Meteorological Society (ETMS) organized the 2 nd Meet and Greet eventas requested by the IGAD Climate Prediction and Application Centre (ICPAC). Themoment participants arrived at the venue, they were warmly welcomed by members ofthe organizers. Informative brochures and DVD materials of the <strong>Africa</strong><strong>Adapt</strong>Publication was distributed to all members in attendance.The <strong>Africa</strong><strong>Adapt</strong> members in Ethiopia are composed from different governmentorganizations, civic organization, media and academia. The total number of participantswere 55, 25 members and 30 non-members. (The list of participants, photographs andedited video copy are annexed)The event was officially opened by the President of ETMS, Mr. Workineh Degefu. Itwas followed by self introduction of participants and four presentations that enticeddiscussions among participants. The presentations focused on <strong>Africa</strong><strong>Adapt</strong> update,Ethiopian Meteorological Society Update, Status of Climate Change Negotiations andENSO and Ethiopian Seasonal Rainfall Variability and Predictions presented by Mr.Abate Getachew, Mr. Kinfe Hailemariam, Mr. Tesfaye Gisila and Mr. Kasa Fekade,respectively.The presentations were so informative. It was followed by discussions, questions,comments, and reactions. An evaluation questionnaire was also distributed to2
