XT/UF Insulation for groundsupported and suspended floorsThe floor in any building is an area of considerable heatloss if it is not properly insulated. Xtratherm Thin-R XT/UFwhen installed within a floor structure, will significantlyimprove the U-value (Thermal Transmittance) of newor existing floors.Under Floor InsulationExtra thermal performanceSuitable for under floor heatingXtratherm Thin-R is a high performancefoil faced Polyisocyanurate (PIR)insulation with a certified thermalconductivity as low as 0.022W/mK.Manufactured to strict EN 13165standards, the closed cell structureand gas tight facings providesexcellent thermal performance andmoisture resistance. Xtratherm Thin-Rproducts deliver genuine thermallyrobust performances and are supportedwith full third party assurancesthroughout the range. All suspended floors must be ventilated from theunderside. Ventilation should not be restricted byany supporting or sleeper wall used to supportthe floor system.Under Floor ScreedTypical installationReduced insulation thicknessHigh compressive strength1Detailing at wall/floor junctions is essential toreduce thermal bridging. By placing an upstandof Xtratherm Perimeter insulation 25mm thickaround the external and internal wall/floorjunctions, a robust detail is created.Property & UnitsDensity (Foam Core)30 (Kg/m 3 )Compressive Strength>140 (kPa)Water Vapour Resistivity>100 (MNs/gm)Thermal Conductivity0.022 (W/mK)Service Temperature-20 to 100 o cSurface Spread of FlameClass 1Xtratherm XT/ UF1Length (mm)24002Width (mm)12003Thickness (mm)25, 30, 35, 40, 50, 60, 65,70, 75, 90, 100, 110,125, 150XT/UF with Under floor heating.2All floors should include a suitable damp proofmembrane (A Radon Barrier doubles as a DPM).The DPM should seal with the DPC. The DPCshould be laid onto a flat level surface. To preventpuncturing the membrane, a screening of sand orcement dust should be laid before laying the DPC.It is good practice to place a layer of polythene overany under floor insulation to act as a separatinglayer in accordance with the Good Building GuideGBG 45 ‘Insulating Ground Floors’Under Floor SlabTypical installation3Xtratherm XT/UF provides the most efficientmeans of insulating a floor. It has the strength and thermal propertiesrequired to reach the high performanceU-values asked for in the BuildingRegulations. Xtratherm Thin-R XT/UFshould be laid with closely butted joints, laid staggered with a break bonded patternand fitted tightly at edges and around anyservice penetrations.Specification ClauseThe floor insulation shall be Xtratherm Thin-RXT/UF _ _ _ mm thick manufactured toEN ISO 9001:2008 by Xtratherm, comprisinga CFC/HCFC free rigid Polyisocyanurate(PIR) core between low emissivity foil facings. The floor insulation shall be installed inaccordance with instructions issued byXtratherm. Refer to NBS clauseE20 200, E20 30.

Installation GuidelinesSolid Under FloorLay the hardcore in layers 150mm min/ 250mmmax and compact well.Blind surface with quarry dust/sand to providelevel surface.Place DPM eg. 1200g polythene or RadonBarrier over blinding, tape joints to preventpassage of ground moisture.Carry DPM up wall to meet and seal with DPC.Lay the Xtratherm XT/UF boards in staggeredjointed pattern.Closely butt all edges.Place Xtratherm floor upstand around floorperimeter to provide Robust detail.Seal around any service penetrations. Layer apolythene vapour control layer min 0.125mmthick over the insulation with 150mm lap joints.Lay concrete slab to the correct thickness.UK Solid FloorTypical U-values XT/UFBelow floor screedFollow the same procedure as above.Leave the concrete subfloor, (over which theinsulation is to be laid), as long as possible todry out.
