Formore than half his life he has taught marine science and underwater technology to bothformal and n<strong>on</strong>-formal audiences. His career has taken him to destinati<strong>on</strong>s all over theworld including the Caribbean, Hawaii, Red Sea, Southeast Asia, Fiji, Papua New Guineaand Micr<strong>on</strong>esia, where he has worked for companies in the private sector, governmentalagencies and n<strong>on</strong>-governmental organizati<strong>on</strong>s.Currently, Dr. Brylske is a Professor of <strong>Marine</strong> <strong>Science</strong> and Technology at <strong>Florida</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Key</str<strong>on</strong>g>sCommunity College in <str<strong>on</strong>g>Key</str<strong>on</strong>g> West, and directs the College’s scientific diving research program.Alex is also an adjunct professor at Edis<strong>on</strong> State College, where he teaches <strong>on</strong>linecourses in oceanography; and he holds an appointment at <strong>Florida</strong> Gulf Coast University as a member oftheir External Associate Graduate Faculty.In additi<strong>on</strong> to coral reef issues, Dr. Brylske’s interests include envir<strong>on</strong>mental educati<strong>on</strong>, recreati<strong>on</strong> ecologyand marine ecotourism. For his c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong> to the field of sustainable marine tourism, Alex was a 2001 recipientof NOAA’s prestigious Walter B. J<strong>on</strong>es Memorial Excellence Award for Ocean andCoastal Resource Management. He has published several papers and has made numerouspresentati<strong>on</strong>s <strong>on</strong> sustainable marine tourism at c<strong>on</strong>ferences around the world.Billy Causey, Ph.D., is the Southeast Regi<strong>on</strong>al Director for the Office of Nati<strong>on</strong>al<strong>Marine</strong> Sanctuaries of the Nati<strong>on</strong>al Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrati<strong>on</strong>. Previously,he had managed Nati<strong>on</strong>al <strong>Marine</strong> Sanctuaries in the <strong>Florida</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Key</str<strong>on</strong>g>s since 1983,when he became the Manager of the Looe <str<strong>on</strong>g>Key</str<strong>on</strong>g> Nati<strong>on</strong>al <strong>Marine</strong> Sanctuary.
