APPLICATIONThis agreement shall apply to the employment of persons classified in clause 3,Definitions, herein by those nominated companies at their nominated locations and shallbe read in conjunction with the Cold Storage Enterprise Award 1998 (308 IG 375). Tothe extent of any inconsistency this agreement shall apply. This agreement rescinds andreplaces the Cold Storage Enterprise Agreement – 2003 and all variations.The nominated companies are:Swire Cold Storage Pty Ltd, Jedda Road, Lurnea, 2170Swire Cold Storage Pty Ltd, Birnie Ave. Lidcombe, 21413. DEFINITIONS3.1 The following definitions shall apply to this agreement:[a]"The Union" shall mean the Australasian Meat Industry EmployeesUnion, New South Wales Branch.[b] "The Federation" shall mean Employers First .3.2 The following employee classifications structure shall apply:[a]A Grade 8 employee shall be a Senior Leading Hand who will beappointed to reflect the higher level of responsibility expected of theemployee.
COLD STORAGE ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT 2006[i][ii][iii]Such appointments, and the number of Grade 8 employeesrequired on individual sites, will be at the discretion of theemployer.A Grade 8 may be the operator to whom a Grade 7 reports.Grade 8 employees shall be capable of and mayperform any duties of Grades 2-7.[b]A Grade 7 employee is one who is appointed as a Leading Hand and isresponsible for the routine operation of a warehouse/cold store or a largesection of a warehouse/cold store.[i][ii][iii][iv][v][vi]Shall possess a highly developed level ofinterpersonal and communication skills.Shall supervise and provide job direction andguidance to other employees, assistance in induction and "on thejob" training, and attend to matters of safety and occupationalhealth as well as the disciplining and counselling of employeesunder their charge.May be in charge of any number of employees as designated bythe employer.Shall implement quality control techniques and procedures.Shall have appropriate VDU/keyboard skills.Shall be competent to perform the following skills:• liaising with management, suppliers and customers withrespect to store operations.• maintain control registers including inventory control and beresponsible for the preparation and reconciliation of regularreports of stock movements, dispatches etc.[vii][viii]Shall exercise discretion within the scope of this grade.Grade 7 employees shall be capable of and may perform anyduties of Grades 2-6.
