5.At the General Election in December 19l8 there was nocontest in Mid-Tyrone and it was one <strong>of</strong> the seats allotted atthe conference between Cardinal Logue, Eoin MacNeill and JosephDevlin. <strong>The</strong>re was a contest in South Tyrone and some <strong>of</strong> theVolunteers from our area took part in the election there.<strong>The</strong> years 1918 and 1919 were the period where theVolunteers devoted a lot <strong>of</strong> time to training and organising.Eamon Fleming was sent from G.H.Q. to Co. Tyrone to organiseand visited. every company in the county. Mr. Fleming starteda few new companies in areas where no organisation existed.Aldrummond was organised in our battalion. Fleming remained3 or 4 weeks in each battalion district. After Fleming'speriod with us ended, Ronnie McGinn, a Dublin Brigade <strong>of</strong>ficer,was Sent to us by G.H.Q. This man remained with us for about3 or 4 weeks and then he was leaving Tyrone, he was arrestedleaving Amiens St. Station in Dublin.About this time - end <strong>of</strong> 1919 -Judge Rosse's was raidedand a few old shotguns <strong>of</strong> little value were seized. A raidwas carried out by Dunamore Coy.on Duruan Lodge, near Cookstown.Some ammunition was seized on this raid.At the end <strong>of</strong> the year 1919 a reorganisation <strong>of</strong> the I.R.A.took place in the brigade area which embraced the whole county.<strong>The</strong> brigade <strong>of</strong>ficers appointed were as follow:-O/C. Wm. J. Kelly, DungannonV/O/C. Francis Curran, Aldrummond, Carricmmore.Adjutant. Vincent Shields, Dungannon.Q.M. John Ogle do.Engineer Sean McDermottFrank Doris and other brigade <strong>of</strong>ficers were in prison whenthis reorganisation took Place. <strong>The</strong>re was no change in the<strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong> my battalion from 1918.Early in 1920 - about April- we burned the books andpapers <strong>of</strong> a man named Quinn, Collector <strong>of</strong> Taxes, in DunamoreCompany area. We also burned an evacuated R.I.C. barracks at
