MA.P.E./Cr 06*Cr(VI) Reducing Additive for calcium aluminate cement andPortland cementDESCRIPTIONMA.P.E./Cr 06* is a chromate reducing agent, formulated with selected raw materials, ensuringan elevated and constant quality.MA:P.E./Cr 06* is a liquid additive which has to beadded to the mill during the cement grindingprocess. It ensures the production of cementswithout Cr(VI), according to European obligation2003/53/EC.CHARACTERISTICSMA.P.E./Cr 06* guarantees, besides advantagescoming from the usage of a liquid product, anefficient and stable reduction of soluble chromatesin cement and hydraulic binders. It is an absolutely innovative liquid product, basedon antimony salts* dispersed on to clinker andother raw materials during the grinding of cement.During cement hydration the reducing agent actson soluble chromates, transforming Cr(VI) intoCr(III).In comparison with traditional Cr(VI) reducingadditives, MA.P.E./Cr 06* has a neutral or slightlyacid pH.APPLICATIONSMA.P.E./Cr 06* can be successfully employed incalcium aluminate cement and in general whereverit is necessary to reduce Cr(VI).The additive must be used only during grinding, added on to the clinker conveyor belt or directly infirst chamber. In any case it should be added asclose as possible to the mill entrance, avoiding longand complicated distances which could cause aloss of additive before mill entrance. It is recommended to avoid mixing MA.P.E./Cr 06*with grinding aids normally employed in cementfactories.Under normal cement storage conditions andapplying a dosage based on grinding plantconditions, the reducing action shall remainunchanged for at least six months.* Patent pending10/07/2007 - 1

MA.P.E./Cr 06*CHEMICAL-PHYSICAL DATAPlease refer to the appropriate safety datasheets.DOSAGE: The dosage depends onCr(VI) cement content and plant type.Generally speaking we suggest a dosagebetween 100 and 120 g/t for each ppm ofCr(VI) existing in calcium aluminatecement. However for Portland cement thedosage can be lower, between 67 and 75g/t for each ppm of Cr(VI).The higher dosages threshold should beconsidered when clinker/cement isparticularly hot and a water coolingsystem is present. The optimum dosage, in any case, has tobe found through a reliable industrial trial, preferably with the help of MAPEI CementAdditives Division technicians.PACKAGINGMA.P.E./Cr 06* is available in plastictanks (1.300 kg net) and in iron drums(250 kg net).STORAGEThis additive when stored correctly can beused up to six months.Avoid temperatures below 0 °C and above50 °C. Store plastic tanks away from directsunlight and heat sources.Avoid adding water to the product and anyother possible contamination.TECHNICAL ASSISTANCEMAPEI Cement Additives Divisiontechnicians are available to cementfactories, in order to optimise the dosageand grinding circuit during industrial tests.SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSTo safeguard the employees health it issufficient to respect the usual rules ofindustrial hygiene and manipulation ofchemical products. For further informationplease refer to the safety data sheet.PRODUCT FOR PROFESSIONAL USE.WARNINGN.B. – Although the technical details andrecommendations contained in thisproduct report correspond to the best ofour knowledge and experience, all theabove information must, in every case, betaken as merely indicative and subject toconfirmation after long-term practicalapplications: for this reason, anyone whointends to use the product must ensurebeforehand that it is suitable for theenvisaged application: in every case, theuser alone is fully responsible for anyconsequences deriving from the use of theproduct.DOSAGE SYSTEMMA.P.E./Cr 06* can be dosed by means ofnormal piston or screw pumps.* Patent pending10/07/2007 - 2
