The funds for the one-time bonus will come from the Education Jobs FundProgram, which is part of the Federal stimulus program.QSCB ApplicationThe Board voted 7-0 to approve an application by the district for $33,573,500 in Qualified School Construction Bondsfrom the Arkansas Department of Education. Dennis Hunt of Stephens, Inc., noted that, due to the number of other schooldistricts applying for the bonds this year, the district should not expect to receive the full amount of the application request.Contract for Tennis Court ApplicationThe Board voted 7-0 to approve a contract with Hight Jackson architects for the relocation of the <strong>Fayetteville</strong> High Schooltennis courts to property located south of the existing softball field at Asbell Elementary School.District Mission & GoalsThe Board voted 7-0 to approve a new mission statement and goals for the district. Energy Corps UpdateDana Smith, the FPS Energy Corps Service member, reported to the Board on her work in our schools with our teachers, studentsand parents to meet our district environmental awareness goals.Revision to Graduation PolicyAssociate superintendent Ginny Wiseman presented a proposed change to Policy 5.64, which is the district’s Graduation Policy.The change would align the district policy with state standards and Smart Core requirements.Happy Hollow UpdatePhil Jones of Nabholz Construction and Wes Burgess of Crafton Tull architects reported on the progress made in the constructionof the new Happy Hollow Elementary School. Jones noted that progress was made, in spite of the winter weather. He also showedphotos that illustrated the steps being taken to insure the air quality, according to LEED Standards. Jones said that heat was providedto the buildings so that work could continue through most of the winter weather days.FHS UpdateJared Brown of Nabholz reported that work is progressing on the FHS Project, in spite of the winter weather. He noted that workon underground water detention at the southeast pad is nearly completion and concrete footing construction is underway. Work isprogressing on the southwest building pad. Brown said the time lost to the winter weather can be recaptured later in the constructionschedule, given the length of the project.
