Glossary of Terms.HPDL High Pressure Decorative LaminateHPDL refers to a laminate produced under high pressure and heat with a graphic ordecorative surface print which depicts or mimicks traditional suface material such astimber ,stone or metallic patterns. HPDL has the unique ability of being able to beprinted with any visual motif desired.MDF Medium Density Fibre BoardMDF is a wood residue-based composite material. Fine wood fibres are bondedunder heat and pressure with an adhesive. The resulting product has exceptionalysmooth surface characteristics and a fine structure ideal fro shaping and routing.MCF Melamine faced ChipboardMFC is an engineered wood product manufactured from wood particles, such as woodchips and woodshavings, and a synthetic resin or other suitable binder, which is pressedand extruded. Particleboard is the most commonly used substrate for applying laminatesin benchtop applications, and provides the most economical option for general indoorbuilding requirements.HMR High Moisture ResistanceHMR pertains to the synthetic resin binder added to impart strength and moistureresistant properties and paraffin wax added to provide high moisture resistanceagainst accidental water spillage.E1 Emissions ratingE1 refers to the level of formaldehyde within the resins in the particleboard(E1 = 1ppm as per DIN 6875 Standard) exceeding ISO Australian and New Zealandstandards -the safest and lowest rating for decorative board.Compact HPLTekform Compact HPL are engineered sheets of 10mm or 13mm thick material,providing characteristically robust surface qualities with a completely sealedhomogenous structure to their cut edges. One or both sides may have colour/pattern effect and this can be in smooth or textured finish.SubstrateA substrate is a material that provides the surface onto which an adhesive andsubsequent overlay / laminateis added.PVA Polyvinyl AcetatePVA is a rubbery synthetic polymer that creates an emulsion/glue with a nonacidic,flexible and strong bond when combined with water. Used extensively in theproduction of laminates and laminate products.
