Patient and publicinvolvement in LGMHow to• When commissioning a service provider to deliver LGM it is suggestedthat the specification require them to demonstrate:– active engagement with people and local communities indeveloping services; and– how they will respond to patient feedback: this data should beused to shape and improve <strong>physical</strong> <strong>activity</strong> services.• For example, as part of the regular evaluation of patient experience,service providers could be asked to use the monitoring data within theinformation management section to help achieve the above.• Involving family carers and supporters will help deliver the componentswithin this service specification. Local Involvement Networks (LINks),the voluntary sector and patient advocacy organisations are furthermechanisms to seek active involvement in service planning, deliveryand monitoring of the LGM care pathway.7. Clinical governance • Clinical governance arrangements with your service provider mustbe proportionate to the service provided and comply with any localexpectations or requirements of the commissioner.• Providers should be required to demonstrate their coordination of andinvolvement in regular inter-professional and inter-agency meetingsand regular clinical audit of the service interventions. This audit can becarried out by extracting data using the Read Codes provided and anyother measures set by the commissioner (for example using additionalmeasures set out in annex 1).• Any commissioned service must meet existing relevant nationalstandards of service quality and clinical governance, includingthose set out in Standards for better <strong>health</strong> (www.dh.gov.uk/en/publicationsandstatistics/publications/publicationspolicyandguidance/dh_4086665).52
