He is considered one of the top evangelicalthinkers in the world and is an elected member of theprestigious SNTS, a society dedicated to New Testamentstudies. He isconsidering the possibility of teaching in a bible college affiliated with his localfellowship.NESGearKrista Naylor Shaver (C3) and her husband Wade welcomed Karis Lyn Shaverinto the world and into their family on <strong>June</strong> 30, 2009.Faculty NewsDr. Beth Gerhardt, professor of theology and social ethics, participated at ElimFellowship’s (Lima, NY) annual Leadership Conference as a workshopspeaker. Her workshop focused on the need for social justice.Dr. Jack Connell, vice president and professor of pastoral ministry, was thekeynote speaker at the Central New York Wesleyan District Conference. Jackspoke to church leaders and pastors on a variety of aspects regarding churchleadership and revitalization.Dr. Tim Dwyer, professor of Christian scriptures, participated at the NESConference on Ministry as a workshop speaker. Tim spoke to church leadersand pastors regarding “Preaching and the Call of God.”Dr. Rebecca Letterman, associate professor of spiritual formation, alsoparticipated at the NES Conference on Ministry as a workshop speaker. Thetitle for Rebecca’s workshop was “Tell Me Story: Formative Events inNarratives of Life-long Conversion.”Dr. Richard Middleton, professor of biblical studies, returns to NES this fallfrom his sabbatical. During his sabbatical, Richard taught a graduate course atthe Caribbean Graduate School of Theology in Kingston, Jamaica and alsowrote and presented a number of papers and articles. One paper, WhateverHappened to the New Earth? The Ambiguous Destiny of Creation in ChristianEschatology, was presented at the Canadian Theological Society meeting andwill serve as an introductory chapter of his book on eschatology—to becompleted by the end of the summer and published by Brazos Press under thetitle, A New Heaven and a New Earth: The Bible’s Holistic Vision of theRedemption of Creation.
