Special funds/loans facilitated for target groups, beneficiaries linked tomicrofinance institutions8. <strong>New</strong> technologies or management practices introduced;9. Partnerships established with local NGOs, businesses, educational institutions andother sustainable providers of information, input supplies, training and technicalassistanceResults by the end of this project:1. A sustained increase of at least 25 percent in the average value of householdproduction (income + market value of agricultural or other production obtained but notsold) of targeted households over initial benchmark levels.2. Diversified sources of income for households.3. Long-term employment created.Outcome: Communities and targeted beneficiaries are empowered to improve theirlivelihoods and capture business opportunities. Linkages exist for vulnerable householdsand individuals to participate in community wide economic opportunities.Component 3. Assistance to strengthen highly vulnerable households and individualsWithin each selected community, NEO will address food insecurity; assist at riskindividuals, and socially disadvantaged persons. Interventions will largely includeproviding technical assistance and grants to enable households and individuals to be selfsufficient,and to engage in the social and economic development of their communities.Illustrative interventions include:Assist with forming groups of individuals into organized social entities (e.g.,associations, youth groups, NGOs)Support the established groups by targeted grants and technical assistance toovercome their vulnerability and be more socially proactiveAssist households and individuals produce foods at respective subsistence levelsProvide demand-based skills, vocational or technical training targeting existing orprospective employment opportunities
