For the <strong>2014</strong>-20<strong>15</strong>school year, Mallinckrodt will host gifted studentsin the Preschool through fourth grade levels.The curriculum currently in use for grade five willremain in place for <strong>2014</strong>-20<strong>15</strong>. Preschool throughfourth grade applicants must meet eligibilityrequirements for gifted programs to be consideredfor placement.Collegiate <strong>School</strong> of Medicine andBioscience (Grades 9 and 10 only for <strong>2014</strong>-20<strong>15</strong>)Collegiate <strong>School</strong> of Medicine and Bioscience isdesigned for a community of learners that willembrace very high academic standards. In additionto offering advanced curricula, Collegiate<strong>School</strong> of Medicine and Bioscience will create anenvironment where students and staff will worktogether toward a common goal of careers inmedicine and medical research.Placement ProceduresThe District is implementing a new application, placement andnotification timeline for students applying to magnet and choiceschools. The new procedures will allow for quicker notification andinformation to be provided for acceptances as well as availableopenings. These new procedures set in place a three pool applicationtimeline.Pool AApplicationPeriodSeptember 1,2013 throughOctober 12, 2013Placement notificationssent priorto October 25, 2013for students applyingin Pool A.Pool BApplicationPeriodOctober 27, 2013through December7, 2013Placement notificationssent priorto December 20,2013 for studentsapplying in Pool B.Pool CApplicationPeriodDecember 22, 2013through February1, <strong>2014</strong>Placement notificationssent priorto February 14,<strong>2014</strong> for studentsapplying in Pool C.Applications received between Pool Application Periods will beconsidered for placement in the next pool.Continuity <strong>School</strong>s<strong>St</strong>udents graduating from 5 th gradeat Washington Montessori <strong>School</strong>will be automatically assigned toGateway Math & Science Prep.<strong>St</strong>udents graduating out of 5 thgrade from Humboldt Academy ofHigher Learning will automaticallybe assigned to Busch Middle <strong>School</strong>of Character.<strong>St</strong>udents graduating from 5 th gradeat Dewey International <strong>St</strong>udieswill automatically be assignedto Compton/Drew InvestigativeLearning Center.Parents wishing to apply to magnetschools other than thoseassigned are free to do so, but theapplications will be consideredfor placement under the new PoolSystem implemented, as well asthe priorities within those pools.Keep in mind• All applications received in a PoolApplication Period are given equalconsideration, within placementpriorities.
