These wastes that contain lead, mercury and cadmium, follow the course of thewater to the Lakes, rivers and up the sea, where it can be incorporated to thedifferent food chains, react and transformed into methyl mercury. The dumping of golf tees contaminate the water and nearby lakes of golfcourses, due to irrigation and water contact of the painted tees.Organic compounds of synthesis:Notable for its high toxicity, volatility, persistence in the environment, nature bioaccumulativeand mobility in landfills, substances such as aliphatic, aromatichydrocarbons (toluene, xylene, benzenes), esters, ethers, ketones, amines,PCBes, PCTes... Among them are never more dangerous pollutants generatedby human activity: dioxins and furans, which belong to a larger chemical family, the organochlorines:• Vinyl chlorideUse: Development of PVC and other plastics.EffectsCause brain cancer, suppresses the immune systemMutagenic; causes of birth defects• TrichloroethyleneUsage: Paints, rubber and carpet cleanersEffectsIt causes cancer and damage to the central nervous systemCause playback failures• Methyl cloroformoUsage: Correction fluids and inksEffectsIt harms the heart and respiratory systemDestroyer of the ozone layer• PerchloroethyleneUse: Metal degreasing, dry cleaningEffectsIt damages the liver and kidneysIt causes acid rain• HexachlorobenzeneUsage: Fungicides, byproduct in the production of chlorinated solventsEffectsIt inhibits development and affects metabolismBioaccumulativeThese chemicals are highly polluting and dangerous for the environment. Theydestroy the quality of the water and eventually annihilate the fauna of theenvironment.
CONCLUSIONS• The study of the composition of the chemical elements present in a paintedgolf tee as well as the development of these and their manipulation at theindustrial level, suggests that the painted golf tees, are polluting water andaggressive elements against the environment, flora and fauna.• Toxic discharges which are incorporated in food chain such as lead, mercuryand cadmium are the most dangerous. They will contaminate marine speciesthat later will be ingested by humans.• The bad habit of holding the golf tees in the mouth causes an intake of extraheavy metals which may be harmful to the golf player.• It is noted also that the felling of trees contributes to destabilize the balance ofgases in the atmosphere increasing the greenhouse effect.
