Job Description for Teacher of Mathematics1. Teaching Responsibilitiesplanning and thoroughly preparing courses and lessonsestablishing and preserving a positive atmosphere for learning within the classroom and throughoutthe <strong>School</strong>to assist pupils in developing their own learning using a variety of teaching methods to suit thepupils’ needsteaching all assigned pupils and regularly setting and marking prep and coursework that is carriedout by the pupilsmaintaining knowledge of those pupils on the Special Needs Register, and put into practice strategiessuggested by the Special Needs Co-ordinatorassessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of all pupils,according to the <strong>School</strong>’s policy and schedulepreparing pupils for public examinations and assessing pupils for the purpose of such examinations;ensuring appropriate differentiation in work setpromoting independent learningassisting individual pupils to maximise their potentialin each case, having regard for the curriculum of the school2. Pastoral Responsibilitiespromoting the general purpose and well-being of the pupils assigned to themprovide opportunities to foster the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupilsproviding guidance and advice to pupils on educational, social, moral and spiritual matters orguiding pupils to a more appropriate member of staffparticipating in meetings of staff and parents to discuss pupil’s progress as required, includingParents’ Evenings of all pupils taughtacting as a Form Tutor when required to do so3. Professional Responsibilities and Dutiesmaintaining good order and disciplineto be courteous and professional to all colleagues and parents, and to provide a welcomingenvironment for all visitors to the <strong>School</strong>to ensure high standards of appearance, manners and punctuality are maintained by all members of theclass / tutor groupsafeguarding the pupils’ welfare and safety at all times, both on school premises and elsewhere, whileunder supervised school activitiesto record and report all lateness or absences from lessonshaving due regard for the health and safety of all members of the school community, and following theschool health and safety policyexercising responsibility for preventing damage to property and for looking after teaching roomssupervising and, if practicable, teaching other pupils whose teacher is absent
