8 ageingmatters june <strong>2010</strong>The sun shone brightly,the wind blew gentlyand the gods smiledkindly as 20 brave participantstook to the skyfor the 2nd annual <strong>Age</strong>Action parachute jump.The jump took place over theweekend of May 15 and 16at the Irish Parachute Club,Clonbollogue, Co. Offaly.Each jumper did a tandemskydive from 13,000 feet tohelp raise over €11,000 for<strong>Age</strong> Action.The eclectic group includedtwo gardai, a couple ofnursing home staff, two journalistsfrom the Irish Catholicnewspaper and a countycouncillor. Gary Gomringer(69), from Letterkenny,was proud to be the oldestjumper this year. AnneMarie Costello was chosenby a ballot of workmates atArvato Finance in Dublin tobe their jumper, and theyrallied behind her to raisefunds.<strong>Age</strong> Action is deeply gratefulto all who took part, andeveryone who supportedthem in fundraising. Wewould also like to thankthe Irish Parachute Cluband their instructors, whoensured that everyoneremained safe and had awonderful day.We plan to organise anotherjump next year.
