<strong>National</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Administrative</strong> <strong>Research</strong>Fostering Excellence in Governance<strong>Training</strong> CalendarThe <strong>National</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Administrative</strong> <strong>Research</strong> (NIAR) has beenworking under the aegis <strong>of</strong> the Lal Bahadur Shashtri national Academy <strong>of</strong>Administration (LBSNAA) for the last 17 years. Our vision is “ To becomethe country's leading think-tank on Governance”.Ever since its inception in 1995, NIAR has been researching policy andimplementation issues <strong>of</strong> the flagship national schemes and programmessuch as SSA, NRHM, MGNREGA, <strong>National</strong> Drinking Water Supply &Sanitation Mission. NIAR is also committed to disseminating cutting edgeinformation and knowledge pertaining to Governance, through itspublications. NIAR aims at fostering excellence in Governance throughconduct <strong>of</strong> customized training programmes, action research and nationalconsultations.It is a premier training and research institute in the country, designingand conducting training activities and programmes keeping in view the<strong>National</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Policy <strong>of</strong> the Government <strong>of</strong> India outlined below : “Keeping up-to-date and enhancing pr<strong>of</strong>essional knowledge andskills for better performance <strong>of</strong> individuals and organizations Promoting better understanding <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional requirements as wellas sensitization <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional, social, economic and politicalenvironment in which work is done, and Bringing about right attitudinal orientation” The <strong>National</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Policy also identifies following issues relatingto training, given that social and political landscape is subject tocontinuous change, and civil servants need to continuously adjust,accommodate and attune themselves to changes :a) Responsiveness to changing democratic needs, expectations <strong>of</strong>citizens and technological developments.b) Commitment to democratic values, concept <strong>of</strong> partnership andparticipative decision- making.c) Awareness to technological, economic and social developments.The <strong>National</strong> <strong>Training</strong> Policy further talks about :Infusion <strong>of</strong> scientific temper.Accountability for highperformance in pr<strong>of</strong>essionalfield and cost effective methods<strong>of</strong> delivery <strong>of</strong> public services.Keeping in view the aboveobjectives <strong>of</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Training</strong>Policy and the vision <strong>of</strong> NIAR,the following trainingprogrammes would be organizedduring 2012-13:
