Sri. R. K. Mathur took over as Secretary & the Cultural Programme took proper shape in whichartists from All India Radio and Smt. Sharan Rani Mathur a well lnown Sarod Vadak participated.Mr. R. K. Mathur (Secretary), wanted the participation of ladies in the Holi Milan to befollowed by Dinner, for which President Mr. G. S. Mathur did not agree and requested to chooseother president.Till 1976, Mathur Sabha Lucknow remained in its modest state, hence younger generation ofthat time was loosing interest in the sabha affairs and in Holi Milan function. At this juncture Mr. R.K. Mathur played a pivoted role by asking and bringing Sr. P. G. Mathur to Mathur Sabha Lucknowalongwith him Mr. S. S. Mathur, Mr. P. N. Mathur, Mr. M. B. Lal, Mr. Suroop and some otherlikeminded people also joined hands with Sr. P. G. Mathur to give Mathur Sabha Lucknow adifferent look & to put some glamour into it. This rejuvenated the interest in the birdari. Annualsubscription was raised to Rs. 4/- per family from Rs. 2/- they all collected extra funds in whichelders also contributed generously. We organised our annual Holi Milan under the president ship of Dr. K. B. Mathur in March1977 with well organised cultural programme in the Institute of Engineers & was followed byDinner. It will not be out of place to mention the unstinted support and help of Sri G. P. Jalesari & SriShamsher Bahadur of Royal Cafe in organising the first Dinner, and the keen interest of Smt. ShantiSahai 'Nalini' in organising the cultural programme.Prior to this, in the evening the election of full executive was held (the photograph of thatexecutive committee is given). The constitution of Mathur Sabha Lucknow was also drafted andannounced, as follows.1. The Executive will be changed after every two years.2. New Mathur members will be introduced to the biradari on stage.3. Area representatives will be appointed for the collection of subscription.4. Sector meeting will be held under the Vice President of the area, in which all theoffice bearers will be invited alongwith President & Secretary General.Thereafter there was no looking back. Year after year our sabha grew larger & larger. Interestamong young & elders increased many folds. Cultural Programmes became more professional like. Now sabha is organising number of programmes in a year viz. zonal meetings, Cultural Programmestduring Diwali with community Dinner, Picnic with games & contributory lunch on 1 Sunday ofJanuary, Cricket Match, Teej function, Medical Camps and Holi Milan with community dinner on

Sunday immediately following Holi.As per our constitution, the term for the President is fixed for two years. Election of thePresident takes place at the General Body meeting during Holi Milan, which is always unanimous.President then makes his team for two years. Area representatives are the backbone of theorganisation, as they are responsible for collecting annual subscription, welfare and all kinds ofinformation about the allotted families. Over a period of time, Lucknow has expanded considerablytherefore we have increased numbers of zones viz. River Bank Colony, Hazaratganj, Mahanagar,Indira Nagar, Vikas Nagar, Jankipuram, Aliganj, Rajendra Nagar, Thakurganj, Rajajipuram, ModelHouse, Ashiyana and Gomti Nagar. Each zone work under one or more vice presidents, this is theway our network works. We have made various committees viz. cultural, food, picnic, publication, awards & prizes, stage & decoration and sports under secretaries and joint secretaries. These committees take care oftheir respective duties under the knowledge & guidance of President & Secretary General . Time totime President holds meetings with Vice Presidents in their respective zones & also with differentcommittees as need be.Cultural Programme :- Since 1977 till today our Cultural Secretaries have worked hardwith total dedication and enthusiasm to glamourise Mathur Sabha Lucknow by organising culturalactivities during Diwali & Holi functions. Children, ladies and even male biradari members wereinvolved in the programme. Year after year our cultural programme became refined & professionallike, particularly vocal songs, dances, ballet and skits. Cultural prizes to the participants became atradition of the sabha along with the academic prizes given to the outstanding students of biradari.Directory :- Directory of Mathur Sabha Lucknow needs a special mention. In 1977, it wasdecided to have a comprehensive list of Mathur Biradari, so that annual collection work may becomeeasier. Sri B. K. Mathur was assigned the work of typing & cutting stencils & produced ten copies ofentire list. Next year Sri Prem Lal offered paper and printing charges for the regular directory. Therewere no advertisements. Only the names of Biradari members with their addresses and phonenumbers were printed. Dr. R. M. Mathur took over as Secretary Publication, who developed theproper shape to the Directory with alphabetic arrangement and advertisements. It used to be selfsufficientwith no burden on Mathur Sabha Lucknow. During earlier days, there use to be blockprinting and one had to sit in the press for corrections & recorrections day night so that Directorycould be distributed on time to all the biradari members. Of course now it has become moreglamorous by offset & computerised printing with colored photographs & attractive cover page.Spouse's name was also added alongwith the name of the member in the directory. The cyclostyled

circulars took the shape of proper printed & colored 'Sauhard' to inform biradari, our previous andfuture activities.
