They not only made alltheir harnesses but built their hitch cartand many of their training carts. Theylive in Charlotte, VT.Jay Bailey - has been farming with hiswife, Janet at Fair Winds Farm in Brattleboro,VT since 1978. They havefarmed with registered Suffolk Punchdraft horses since 1980 and have taughtDraft Horse Workshops since 1995.8Fair Winds is a 40 acre diversified farmthat is now incorporating four youngfarmers who run a meat & vegetableCSA.Robert Boynton – has been makingyokes & bows for oxen since 1980(Boynton's Yokes 'n Bows). He hasdemonstrated his craft close to hishome in Dunbarton, NH and fartherafield in Washington DC at the SmithsonianFolklife Festival. Robert hasworked horses and oxen his whole life,exhibiting oxen at Eastern Sates andother events around the region.Rachel Cadwallader-Staub - is theChildren's Farmyard Manager and aFarm-based Educator at ShelburneFarms. The Children's Farmyard is ahands-on, educational farmyard whichengages visitors in conversations andactivities around food, fiber, and farming.The Farmyard environment providesthe opportunity to connect visitorswith their food system and theworking farms that sustains us.Continued on page 10
