OK, not the whole weekend, but he faithfully commits to four hourseach weekend since he started volunteering at the beginning of June 2013.Since then he has accumulated more than 80 hours, averaging 10 hours amonth. An active duty soldier, Michael has completed his volunteer trainingmatrix and is independent in his volunteer duties. Simply said, he hitsthe floor running. He keeps the Ramstein AMC Terminal USO clean andwell stocked, repairs keyboards, changes light bulbs, and has been knownto grab a ladder to wipe away high dust. He is not only a maintenance man,he answers the phone to give travel information and talks to troops andfamily members about the base and local area. Michael has earned theconfidence of the Ramstein USO staff, allowing staff to concentrate moreon their administrative duties when he is around. Michael is trained onthe responsibilities of the Baggage Claim and Ramstein Gateway ReceptionCenter USO kiosks and fills in there on the weekends when other volunteerscannot commit to those areas. He has also brought some of hisfellow soldiers in the center to show them the nature of his duties here,and they have in turned signed up on the USO volunteer website to assistnot only the Ramstein center but with the various volunteer opportunitiesthrough out the Kaiserslautern USO area.
